Short bio

Maria Alessia Glielmi is a professor in cultural anthropology and anthropology of art at the Accademia Albertina of Belle Arti of Torino and a Phd in “Architecture and Environment” at the University of Sassari. Over the years, she has conducted research in the field of cultural heritage anthropology—specifically demo-ethno-anthropological (DEA) heritage—in both Piedmont and Sardinia, as well as in anthropology of art in Mexico. She has carried out numerous fieldworks, both in Italy and  in Mexico, where she has spent extended periods among the Huichol people of the Sierra Madre Occidental. Her work focuses on processes of cultural transformation, the symbolic dimension of culture, and the patrimonialization of demo-ethno-anthropological heritage. She is the author of numerous essays and a member of the editorial board of ""Parol-Quaderni d'arte e di epistemologia.
