The School

The Faculty of Architecture in Alghero was founded in 2002 as the first faculty of architecture in Sardinia; in 2009 it received the CENSIS evaluation award as the foremost faculty of architecture in Italy with the best international experiences, offering high-quality teaching and research and a good quality of life.

The teaching model focuses mainly on local challenges and the Sardinian territory, but, at the same time, the presence of the school makes Alghero an international environment, offering unique opportunities for meetings and exchange between Italian and foreign architects, planners, designers, teachers, scholars and students.

For this reason, some of the foremost Italian and foreign architects, planners, designers and landscape-planners have been invited to Alghero to teach, organise project laboratories, participate in discussions and lecture at conferences and seminaries.

For this reason it has been possible for students to make educational and professional experiences abroad, to participate at international summer schools and to receive a professional training, also after graduation, in Amsterdam, Krakow, Lisbon, Shanghai, Beijing, Madrid, Moscow, Sao Paolo, Paris, Barcelona, La Plata, Montpellier, etc.

For this reason, research results are integrated into teaching, while research, in its turn, is often “guided” by teaching and its active involvement in activities aimed at assisting the Sardinian territory in facing challenges.

The educational offer of the faculty covers all various levels and stages of projects and planning and is closely connected to the research activities.
