Alessandro Plaisant is an assistant professor of Regional and Urban Planning at the Department of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning, the University of Sassari and holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Territorial Engineering at Cagliari University. In 2003 he was visiting fellow at the School of Anthropology, Geography and Environmental Studies (SAGES), Melbourne University. From 2004 he teaches Regional Planning (DG. Environmental and Natural Sciences) at the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences of the University of Sassari.Up to 2002 he conducted research and collaboration with the Dept. of Territorial Engineering, University of Cagliari and from 2002 at the Department of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning, the University of Sassari.

Alessandro's current research explores decision-making processes in public policymaking, strategic planning, new forms of governance, policies and instruments pluralism-oriented, with the aim to rethink roles and modalities of public action in urban governance and public participation in policymaking processes at all levels.
