The Calich Lagoon on the Alghero North boundary is one of the most particularly fragile ecosystem and an important part of the bigger one Porto Conte Regional Park.
The Lagoonscape was massively transformed by local human being, thanks to the economic and logistic logics connected with touristic necessities and hygienic needs of the entire Nurra purifier system.
For this kind of reasons the Lagoonscape is always more fragile……..
During the past “field studies” the students explored and traversed the Lagoon System to learn to see the Ecosystem’s components, through a different attitude, all finalized on projecting with the properly approach the Lagoonscape.
Now during the two intensive days under the direction of the landscape urbanist Jorge Ayala, the students will have the opportunity to develop a new perspective for the high fragile and sophisticated reality of the Calich Lagoon system.
Thanks to this opportunity to experience a new attitude and method, the landscape urbanism discipline properly one, in approaching and analyzing the delicate Ecosystem, the students will be able at the end to elaborate a new way to project the Lagoon ecosystem and surroundings.

Jorge Ayala
Jorge Ayala was born in Mexico City. He received his Degree in Architecture (DPLG) in Paris in 2007 and a Masters Degree of the emerging discipline Landscape Urbanism from the Architectural Association School [AA] in London in 2008. In 2007 he participated in the 7th International Biennale of Architecture in São Paulo, Brazil, and in the 2nd International Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism of Hong Kong - Shenzhen in China. His work has been exhibited in academic and cultural venues including the Architectural Association, la Galerie d’Architecture de Paris and Fundacion Metropoli in Spain.
Jorge has lectured in Paris, Beijing, Nanjing and others. He is a workshop tutor at the Landscape Urbanism Master at the AA London.
Jorge is based between London, Beijing and Paris working for P l a s m a Studio on several projects within China, currently involved in the World Horticultural Expo design for Xi’an 2011 as well as being part of the collective Groundlab LU, he has also collaborated with Laur Studio in Beijing.
Jorge Ayala is a Registered UK Architect -member of the Architects Registration Board UK- and a member of l’Ordre des Architectes France.
