The School

The Alghero School of Architecture was founded in 2002 as the first faculty of architecture in Sardinia, and has ranked in the top three positions in the independent CENSIS evaluation of Italian Architecture schools for the last seven years, boasting one of the best international experiences, offering high-quality teaching and research and a good quality of life.

The teaching model focuses mainly on local challenges and the Sardinian region, but, at the same time, the presence of the school makes Alghero an international environment.

Some of the most renowned Italian and international architects, planners, designers and landscape-planners have been invited to Alghero to teach, organise workshops and give public lectures and seminars.

Students are given the opportunity to study or go on work placements abroad, participate in international summer schools, complete work experience both before and after graduation in various international settings such as Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Athens, Lisbon, Shanghai, Beijing, Madrid, Moscow, Sao Paulo, Paris, Barcelona, La Plata, Montpellier, Kyoto....

The teaching activities at the department often benefit from the results of research activities, and in turn our research activities are often inspired by issues encountered during teaching activities, both often aimed at addressing regional challenges.

The degree courses taught at the department cover the design dimension at all scales and course contents are closely related to research activities.
