Associate Professor

Short bio

Research focuses on the structure and functioning of continental aquatic ecosystems, including transitional environments. Particular attention is given to biogeochemical cycles and phytoplankton. The main research area involves studying eutrophic processes, analyzing their direct and indirect negative impacts on the functioning of aquatic ecosystems and the implications for the goods and services they provide. Much of the research adopts an ecosystemic approach, integrating the study of aquatic ecosystems with the planning and management of hydrological basins. Furthermore, research is aimed at developing ecological indicators, using models (coupling the hydrological basin with the water body) to evaluate processes and functions, and implementing automatic in-water monitoring systems.
