The PhD course

The PhD Course in Architecture and Environment, active since the 19th cycle, is a reference for the training of researchers and experts who are concerned with rethinking forms and ways of living at various scales. With this in mind, the research questions relevant and emerging issues related to the frontiers of knowledge in response to future challenges, ranging from spatial planning to transport systems, from the management of biotic and abiotic resources to complex ecosystems, from the philosophy of architecture to the methodology of design and renovation, from the regeneration of existing artefacts to the design of objects and communication.

Through a multidisciplinary approach that goes beyond the subdivision of specialisations, the future researchers are enabled to acquire open and critical skills, with the aim of meeting the challenges of interdisciplinary research in coherence with the transformations of the territory and the environment.

The Architecture and Environment project provides a varied training context designed to enhance research skills and competences. This is fuelled by the process of shared formative experiences and the continuous attention of the supervisors who periodically evaluate the plans, products and results of the doctoral students.
