Associate Professor

Emilio Barchiesi is an Associate Professor of Structural Mechanics. He is a member of the PhD Board in Architecture and environment at the University of Sassari and of the National PhD in Defense against natural risks and ecological transition of the built environment. He is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the M&MoCS Center at the University of L’Aquila. He has authored more than 80 publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals. He serves on the editorial boards of the journals Mathematics and Mechanics of Complex Systems, Mathematics and Mechanics of Solids, Mechanics Research Communications, and Continuum Mechanics and Thermodynamics. In the period 2023-2026 he was the national coordinator of the PRIN (Research Projects of Relevant National Interest) project Metamaterials Design and Synthesis with Applications to Infrastructure Engineering and the unit responsible for the University of Sassari in the PRIN project A Fluid-Structure Interaction Tool for the Protection of Clean Energy Production Sites. Since 2026, he has been the principal investigator of the FIS (Italian Science Fund, starting grant) project Coarse-Graining Inelasticity of Non-Local Lattices.
