Metamaterials We are developing new kinds of materials, usually called metamaterials, which are optimised for a well-defined use, e.g., resilience and ductility. In this framework, we have developed discrete and continuum models, e.g., pantographic structures, granular media, origami, duoskelion. In particular, we are focused on the development of meso-mechanical models by considering the case of large displacements which leads to multistability phenomenon useful in several application contexts. Some international relationships allow us to build physical model by using 3D printed objects which can be tested in order to identify mechanical parameters necessary to calibrate the digital twin. The research group is led by Emilio Turco and consists of Emilio Barchiesi, Andrea Causin, Mustafa Erden Yildizdag, Margherita Solci besides to cooperate with several members of the Mathematics and Mechanics of Complex Systems.
