Laboratory of Marine Geology

Research activities

Research in the field of marine geology is primarily concerned with mapping the seabed features and biocoenosis. Studies are aimed at defining seabed dynamics as a function of both ongoing climate change and human activities. It uses both geophysical instruments such as Side Scan Sonar and Single Beam and underwater robots (ROVs) capable of acquiring high-resolution images.

Equipment and software

  • Side Scan Sonar KLEIN 3000
  • Single Beam ECHOSOUNDER ELAC Hydrostar 4300
