DADU at the 2026 University Orientation Days

Il DADU alle Giornate di Orientamento Universitario 2026

On 26 and 27 March 2026, the Department of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning (DADU) took part in the University Orientation Days organised by the University of Sassari. The event provided an important opportunity to showcase the University's educational offer and to engage with prospective students considering their future academic pathways.

Throughout the two-day event, DADU hosted an exhibition stand featuring a selection of projects developed by students within the Department's studio-based courses. The exhibition offered visitors a tangible insight into the educational experiences and design activities that characterise the Department's teaching approach.

DADU also organised the interactive activity Architecture, Design, and Urban Planning: A Design Challenge, an engaging format devised to introduce and compare the professional roles of the architect, the designer, and the urban planner. The challenge invited each professional to persuade the audience of the value of their discipline within a five-minute presentation, using only the methods and tools that define their own professional practice.

The initiative was designed to highlight the distinctive features, differences, and complementarities of the three professions while encouraging direct engagement with the audience. This was followed by a guided interactive quiz in which participants were presented with a series of brief statements concerning professional skills, fields of practice, and areas of responsibility. They were then invited to assign each statement to the profession they considered most appropriate, prompting reflection on the distinctive characteristics of the three educational pathways and their corresponding professional profiles.
